Ever Green

George Peele (1556-1596), "A Sonet," lines 1-6, Polyhymnia (London: Richard Ihones, 1590), last page:
His Golden lockes, Time hath to Siluer turn'd,
O Time too swift, รด Swiftnesse neuer ceasing:
His Youth gainst Time and Age hath euer spurn'd
But spurn'd in vain, Youth waineth by increasing.
Beauty Strength, Youth, are flowers, but fading seen,
Dutie, Faith, Loue are roots, and euer greene.
